Sebastien Durelli, Collectible Designer
Sebastien's creations are inspired by familiar places — landscapes so vivid in his mind, in his subconscious, that they carry the same weight as lived experience. Places that exist and places that do not, a mix of dreams and reality, destinations visited and others only imagined. For Sebastien, the border between the real world and the imaginary one has never existed. He moves through both with the same curiosity, the same wonder, the same spirit of adventure — travelling, dreaming, or somewhere suspended between the two, always transported.
He has always seen the world like a galaxy of different planets — each landscape a different atmosphere, a different story, a different invitation to wonder. A desert dune dissolves into Tatooine at sunset. A black volcanic beach becomes the frozen surface of an unknown world. A limestone cliff whispers the floating mountains of Pandora. Science fiction, fantasy, fairy tales: these were never escapism but a way of seeing, a lens through which the real world became richer, stranger, more alive. He fell in love with travel early — with family, then alone, then across continents — living in many countries and spending eleven years in Asia, collecting landscapes and sensations the way others collect souvenirs. Every new horizon felt strangely familiar, as if he had already walked there in his dreams.
This is how Sebastien still speaks with his inner child today — through his collections. Each one is a different world, a different atmosphere, a different planet to travel to: distinct landscapes, materials, colours, silences. Not chapters in a sequence, but destinations. Places to return to, to dream inside, to explore again. Harmony is the sunlit breath of the Mediterranean. Awakening is Iceland, where fire and ice meet like in the greatest sci-fi dreams. Incanto is the enchanted forest and the quiet magic of growing things. Évasion is a love letter to Morocco and Marrakech. Eternal is the vast ancient desert, cradle of countless adventures. Clarity is the portal between ocean and cosmos.
It was in Japan that Sebastien found a name for what he had always felt. Wabi-Sabi — the art of finding perfection within imperfection, of honouring what wind, time and patient erosion have shaped — gave language to an instinct carried from the beginning. What others call imperfection, he has always recognised as the ultimate perfection: that infinite dance of asymmetries, shadows, textures and forms that only nature knows how to compose. His shapes carry this understanding — they are alive, they have a soul, they hold the memory of deep time. Observing these forms is what brings him stillness.
For over twenty years he worked in fashion and luxury goods, living in many corners of the world. But at a certain point something inside him wanted to speak in a different language. The transition into design was not a change of direction — it was a natural arrival, the moment when all his passions, memories, dreams and emotions finally found their form. Design holds memory. Each piece carries the soul of a place he has loved, from this world or another.
He is the same person he was as a child. A pencil, a blank page, a glance out of the window — and it is always an opportunity to travel, to wander, to live a thousand adventures.
